Jason Elias, Author, and Healer
Jason Elias has had a lifelong passion for healing. His earliest memories include watching his Greek Jewish grandmother concoct herbal remedies and poultices in the kitchen of his boyhood home in Brooklyn. He would emulate his beloved elder by healing his family and neighbors with grass cuttings and sugar. As a young man, he studied psychology, acupuncture, and both Chinese and Western Herbal Medicine. His passion led him to study with many master teachers in New York City, California, the Philippines, Japan, China, India, and England. (A more in-depth view of Jason’s life and relationship to health and healing is available here.)
Jason has been in private practice for more than 40 years, working with clients of all ages. He is the author of 5 celebrated books. In his poetic yet practical voice as an author, Jason bridges the diverse healing traditions of many cultures and brings their wisdom to complement our modern understanding of wellness, disease, life, and aging.

The Seven Graces of Ageless Aging (Softcover book)
The Seven Graces of Ageless Aging synthesizes and simplifies the components of conscious aging into a primer for individuals who are concerned about their own aging process and for those caring for the elderly who seek an enlightened understanding of how all of us may approach aging more consciously and, gracefully. In short, these Seven Graces can serve as stepping-stones toward attaining emotional or spiritual wholeness as we age.
Jason has interviewed and highlighted the stories of a dozen individuals in their late seventies, eighties, and nineties, and one over one hundred. Each of these remarkable individuals, in his or her way, has refused to accept the timeworn script that equates old age with decrepitude. Instead, they have chosen to rewrite the script and embrace old age with dignity and grace. Listening carefully to their stories and insights inspired me and quieted my own fears about aging. They have become the Pathfinders, the modern-day sages, who share their wisdom and experiences throughout this book.
To become more conscious of the aging process, particularly of our own, we must first consider our long-held beliefs about what aging is and is not. We would do well to adopt a “beginner’s mind”.

Kissing Joy As It Flies: A Journey to Healing and Wholeness. Warner Books; 2015. (Softcover book)
“Kissing Joy as it Flies” recounts Jason Elias’s journey around the globe as he searches for the roots of true healing. From his studies in the 1960s with Fritz Perls, Ida Rolf and Ilana Rubenfeld, Jason continues to the East to learn and work with the healing masters of China, Japan, India, and the Philippines.
Jason’s quest comes full circle as he explores his ancestral roots in the healing stories of the “Little Doctor” and establishes his health practice in New York’s Hudson Valley.
This volume will be of interest, not only to those readers intrigued by Jason’s other books, but also for those compelled by the universal fascination of the classic Hero’s Journey, told through the perspective of a healer.
Stories and their mysterious power have fascinated me from an early age, beginning with listening to stories of the old country from my immigrant parents, hearing some told over and over again, others hidden from me, whispered out of earshot. This fascination led me to listen deeply to the stories I was told and to remember especially those that carried a teaching, a kind of healing essence.

When illness threatens, when we are wounded in body, mind, or spirit, when we are separated from the whole of which we were once part, we feel pain, grief, and fragmentation, that feeling of coming apart at the seams that William James, called “torn-to-pieces-hood.” At these times, we experience a craving for wholeness, a yearning for serenity, a healing for our torn-to-pieces-hood. How can we begin to heal our wounded nature and become whole once again? The feminine spirit of healing teaches that the first essential step to wholeness requires coming out of ourselves and reaching out towards others.
